Last day of Christmas break for the kids... Time for some "gaming" like we use to do it back in the 1900's

2:365 Slippery Snow

First snow of 2012 - not much to it, but enough it was slippery and I needed to turn my four wheel drive on. Should be gone by Wednesday.

365 Photo Challenge

I've watched several others participate in a 365 Photo Challenge the last four years... I've been promising myself over the last few months that I would participate in 2012.

Some choose to go with a theme, some a certain photo style, some use DSLR, some their smart phone... I'm choosing to use iPhonography (i.e. Photography using my iPhone's camera) and the theme: My Daily Life.

I know, it's not a very challenging theme... Especially when I get back into my gardening seasons. But, it gives me a chance to capture and share something from my life each day.

Watch for my daily posts, which will appear here on my blog, Twitter, and Facebook.

And... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Butterflies & Dragonflies

Oh to be in the heat of August and to see butterflies and dragonflies again...
August Butterfly
(Bloomington Country Club - August 2010)

Ready For Flight
(Bloomington Country Club - August 2011)

I'll miss seeing all of those butterflies and dragonflies at BCC next year... But hopefully I'll see some at my residential customers in 2012.

Black-Capped Chickadee... And Happy Memories

Chickadee

If there is one bird that I can say is my favorite "childhood bird," it would have to be the black-capped chickadee... It always brings back so many memories of the house I grew up in on Harlem Avenue in Monmouth, Illinois.

We always had a bird feeder outside a large window by our family room, and more along the woods that lined our backyard. I remember watching many gold finches, cardinals, sparrows of all types... But my favorite to see was always the chickadees.

I love happy memories... It's amazing how a photo, new or old, can always bring back those happy memories.

That is why I'm a photographer... To help others, and myself, hold on to happy memories.
