But, before I left, I did something a little out of the ordinary for me... I took a black marker and wrote something on my left arm. I've seen others do this for different reasons at athletic events, but never saw myself as one to do it. But, after the events from the past week I had this urge to do something in memory of those deeply affected by the tragedy at the Boston Marathon and the next few days. Nothing big, nothing earth shattering, nothing to change the lives of millions... but, just something personal.
So today... I ran for Boston. I had seen others posting their runs for Boston by hash-tagging on Twitter and knew I had to do the same.
I headed out on my three-mile run, but as I kept looking down at my arm, I knew I couldn't stop at just three... I kept thinking about the experiences of pain, sorrow, fear, lost limbs, loss of life last Monday... I had to run further. My pain going just two more miles is nothing compared the pain experienced by so many last Monday through Friday. And so I did... and rather than a three-mile run I completed a five-mile run... and afterwards I felt great!!!
